Description

The combination of Amoxycillin and Clavulanic acid is used in the treatment of a range of bacterial infections in the ears, lungs, sinuses, skin, and urinary tract. The medicine is helpful in treating infections that have become resistant to other treatments form of treatments. Amoxicillin belongs to a class of medications called penicillin that works by stopping the growth of bacteria. Clavulanic acid belongs to a class of medications called beta-lactamase inhibitors that works by preventing bacteria from destroying amoxicillin. Amoxicillin + Clavulanic acid syrup is not effective in the treatment of viral infections such as colds and flu.

Take the medicine as per the dosage and duration prescribed by the doctor.  You can take Amoxycillin + Clavulanic Acid  Dry Syrup with or without food. However, it is preferable to take it after having a meal as it increases absorption and decreases the chances of having an upset stomach. Some people may experience side effects such as vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, and allergy.  On noticing any of these side effects stop taking the medicine immediately and consult your doctor.

Usually, the causative bacteria of multidrug-resistant (MDR) tuberculosis, produce an enzyme called beta-lactamase. This enzyme breaks down the antibiotics and makes them ineffective. Side Effects of Amoxycillin + Clavulanic Acid  Dry Syrup

There are mild to moderate side effects of Amoxycillin + Clavulanic Acid  Dry Syrup that get resolved with time.  If your side effects worsen with time or get severe, immediately contact your doctor. The side effects are different in all the users as they depend on the health condition and response to the therapy. Drug Interactions

  • allopurinol (Aloprim, Lopurin, Zyloprim)
  • probenecid (Probalan)
  • warfarin (Coumadin, Jantoven)

Precautions and Warnings 

1. Do not take Amoxycillin + Clavulanic Acid  Dry Syrup if you are pregnant or breastfeeding your newborn without a doctor’s consultation.

2. Avoid consuming alcohol as it may interact with the medicine and cause negative health effects.

3. Inform your doctor if you have a medical history of kidney or liver disease, allergies, asthma, hay fever, hives, or mononucleosis.

4. Keep the medication out of sight of children and pets. Properly dispose of expired and discarded medicines.

5. Store the dry syrup in a cool and dry place away from direct sunlight.
