Citicoline + Piracetam syrup is a combination medicine that belongs to the class of medication called central nervous system agents. The medicine is used in the treatment of acute stroke. A stroke is a fatal disease that happens when the blood supply to the brain is cut off and brain cell begins to die. The brain, similar to other body parts requires blood and nutrients to properly function and when its requirements are not met this can lead to a stroke. It is a serious life-threatening disease responsible for millions of causalities each year.

The active ingredient Citicoline work by repairing the neuronal membrane and cholinergic neurons by increasing phosphatidylcholine synthesis and potentiating the production of acetylcholine, thereby it reduces the build-up of free fatty acids at the site of stroke-induced nerve damage. Another, active ingredient Piracetam improves the activity of a chemical messenger called acetylcholine which helps in communication between brain cells. It also protects the brain and the nervous system from the shortness of stroke thereby preventing the stroke.

Do not self-medicate the medicine and take the syrup as per the prescribed dosage and duration. Some people may observe side effects such as weight gain, nervousness, diarrhea, headache, muscle spasm, nausea, and vomiting. Talk to your doctor if the side effects persist or get severe.
